Batandwa Mdyesha

General Manager of Finance (African Exploration Mining & Finance Corporation)

Batandwa has a BCom Honours Degree from th Univeristy of Kwazulu-Natal in 2004. Before qualifying as a CA, she attempted actuarial science at UCT in 1999 after which she worked at Jacques Malan & Associates as an Actuarial Assistant in 2001 for a year and at the Frater Asset Management as Fund Co-ordinator in 2003. Batandwa is very passionate about education and ensuring that children get the education they deserve. As she comes from a rural town with not many opportunities, she believes that she has great opportunities in life through education. With that belief, she has adopted a school in Mzimkhulu called Bambanani Primary School, where she assists the children and the school to ensure that the children get a good education. 

Two years ago, she assisted the school to have annual awards and a recognition event, which she has attended for the past two years and sponsors the event. She is now assisting the school with their project for a media centre, which will have computers and a library. She also encourages friends and family to adopt a school. She is also an external marker at UNISA for Honours Accounting, as she is passionate about education and participate in projects to uplift standards in primary and high schools around the previously disadvantaged areas. She is married with three children and enjoys spending time with her family, reading and travelling.
