Dina Diamond

Investec Bank within Private Banking

Dina Diamond is an experienced professional with many years’ experience predominantly in the financial services industry in the United States, South Africa and the African continent. She is currently at Investec Bank within Private Banking. Before this role she headed up business development at a technology-centric company involved in financial services.

Prior to her business development role, Dina held the title Group Executive: Marketing, Communications and Business Development at Sasfin Bank after being with the Absa/ Barclays Group for 8 years.

Dina started as a campaign manager at Barclays Africa covering Africa, the Middle East and Indian Ocean Islands when she was recruited to join Absa Bank working on the Retail and Marketing workstreams as part of the Barclays Integration Programme, after Barclays bought a majority stake in the Absa Group. Here she received awards for technological innovation on her strategic projects in the marketing space and for community work.

At Absa/Barclays Africa, Dina held the post of Chief of Staff for Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs supporting the Group Executive for Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs (MCPA) who was responsible for all Marketing, Communications and Public Relations outputs entailing a R1bn budget and reported directly into the Group CEO, Maria Ramos. She worked extensively with top management on all aspects of the Absa/ Barclays Africa business including but not limited to brand and marketing strategy (for both Absa and Barclays globally), crisis communications, sponsorships, new product development, stakeholder management, public affairs, media and citizenship (incorporating Corporate Social Investment). Dina also was responsible for elements of risk management and the implementation of various policies within the MCPA environment.

Dina represented the Group Executive for MCPA on multiple forums including the Group Strategy Committee, Africa Client Committee, Innovation Council and the various Excos within MCPA requiring oversight and strategic guidance.

She was selected as one of 330 Value Leaders in the Barclays Group to train over 140 000 Barclays colleagues across the globe on the new Barclays Group Culture, Values and Purpose and was involved with the ongoing implementation and working group related to these.

Dina also implemented and managed Project Lumen – the construction and execution of the largest LED screen of its kind globally, including launch, carbon offest strategy and implementation, media management, content creation, engagement with regulators, Corporate Real Estate Services and all local and international contractors.

She was the Marketing and Communications lead for the name change from Absa Group to Barclays Africa Group, to form a new legal entity incorporating the African countries in which Barclays operates across the continent, as well as the project created to ensure business continuity around the passing of Mandela.

Other roles she held at Absa/ Barclays Africa included supplier relationship management, risk management and operations management. Prior to that Dina lived in New York where she worked in real estate development, investments and marketing. She also worked in South Africa at a technology-focused financial services group focusing on private equity and venture capital, after leaving J Walter Thompson Advertising as a copywriter working on blue chip clients.
