Miss Makgola Makololo

Makgola Makololo

Ms. Makgola Makololo is a qualified electrical engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She began her career at Eskom, South Africa’s national power utility, where she held various engineering and management roles. She later joined Sasol as a Senior Reliability Engineer, gaining further experience in the energy sector. She worked as Deputy Director General in National Government where she gained extensive experience in infrastructure Investments, policy formulation and regulation. She is a highly regarded executive in energy and transport, and brings engineering, infrastructure development, and policy implementation expertise.

She holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) at the University of Pretoria. Ms. Makololo currently serves as the Managing Director of Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa, leading the manufacture of electric locomotives for Transnet and driving the growth strategy for Alstom in the region.

She has demonstrated a strong commitment to societal development and leadership. She serves a Non-executive director of the new South African National petroleum Company. She has also served as a non-executive director on the board of Zenzele Technology Centre, an incubator under SEDA supporting small-scale miners, and was co-opted onto the board of the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

She was recognised as one of the top 80 emerging leaders in science and technology in Africa and the Middle East, Ms. Makololo participated in the TechWomen Exchange Program in 2013. In 2017, she was named one of the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans.

She is passionate about people development, service excellence, and inclusive leadership. In her personal time, Ms. Makololo enjoys engaging in motorsport, golf, and current affairs.
