Mamokete is the Founder and CEO of Mamor Capital, an investment firm with proprietary investments in Telecommunication Infrastructure and the ICT value chain. She has more than 18 years’ experience in the financial services sector working across various disciplines within investment banking i.e. corporate finance advisory, private equity investments, mezzanine, infrastructure, project finance and mergers and acquisitions. Mamokete’s experience in facilitating investments worth more than R30bn across different sectors working with key executives and gaining exposure to different business models inspired the vision to venture into an entrepreneurial journey to play a more hands on transformational role and influence the strategic direction in targeted investments.
Mamor Capital is 100% black women owned investment company with a hands-on approach in investee companies and seeks to drive growth initiatives and strategic direction of the business. The focus is on unlocking value in businesses that leverage digital infrastructure leadership or leverage the use of technology for sustainable growth within the ICT sector.
Prior to her current role, Mamokete was the Executive Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Vodacom Group responsible for facilitating acquisitions of targeted companies in line with corporate strategy, facilitating restructuring of existing investments including divestitures. Her career journey includes working for Cazenove (SA) Corporate Finance, National Empowerment Fund, Vantage Capital, and the Development Bank of Southern Africa.
She serves as an independent non-executive director for the JSE listed Bell Equipment Limited, where she is Chairman of Social Ethics and Transformation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. She is an independent non-executive director of OUTsurance Holdings and its other subsidiaries and a member of the Board Investment Committee. She serves as a director in Vulatel (Pty) Ltd and GIO Constructions and Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd.
Mamokete is driven by the desire to see people live to express their full potential and unleashing their personal power, for this reason, she volunteers time in initiatives designed to empower women and develop their growth potential, through her participation as the Board member in Business Engage, a non-profit organisation aimed at developing leadership and creating empowerment opportunities for women in the market place. Mamokete plays an active role in facilitating various Board and Leadership Round Table discussions from time to time, speaking engagements, and she is the regular presenter for the Mergers and Acquisitions module, in the ongoing Business Engage Board Masterclass series aimed at accelerating women participation on South African Boards.
