Ursula Johnson is Chief Executive of Network International (Pty) Ltd, a marketing communications company that she founded in 1987.
Ursula began her career with the then South African Associated Newspapers (SAAN), first as a Journalist and later as an Account Executive in the National Executive Sales Team. She went on to become Editor of ‘Femme Africa’ – the first black fashion magazine in South Africa. She was also Editor of the International Who’s Who Southern Africa.
Ursula also worked for the US Foreign Commercial Services, where she was a Trade Specialist concentrating on trade between the USA and Africa on the Africa Asia Desk.
She has recently undertaken a new business venture with her daughters, the House of Egoli International (Pty) Ltd, an authentic South African hand-crafted designer jewellery and lifestyle décor company.
Ursula served for eight years as Non-Executive Director on the Board of Tiger Brands Limited and the Transformation Committee of Tiger Brands Limited. She also served two terms on the Board of the International Women’s Forum of South Africa as Membership Chairperson and a member of the Communications Committee.
In addition, she served on the Sullivan Task Group 2 (Communications) and Task Group 7 (Black Business Development) Committees. She was a Trustee of the Johannesburg Children’s Theatre, an Executive member of the Black Management Forum – Communications Portfolio and a member of the Black Management Forum itself.
Ursula has a degree in Mass Communications from Howard University, Washington DC and a diploma in Public Relations from Damelin College.
