Totsie is a prominent South African leader and development activist; business turn around strategist; a mentor and coach in the conscious coaching arena. She currently serves as the CEO of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and has served in various institutions in leadership roles in both the public and private sector over the past 30 years as a value creator.
She has held significant roles in the financial services and educational sector including:
- Executive Director Operations & Acting managing Director of the Land and Agricultural bank of South Africa focusing on agricultural space and de racializing commercial agricultural lending at the dawn of democracy.
- CEO of Eduloan; a education financial services provider focusing on providing finance to the Middle Market to professionals serving the government both in the educational and health space:
- CEO OF WDB; which supports rural women through micro finance and capacity building initiatives
- CEO: Customer care and back-office operations at FNB Homeloans enhancing customer experience and revenue growth on existing customers.
- Managing Director of Postbank impacting on growing the unbanked market and growing the bank product beyond the traditional book saving and forming strong partnerships with other financial services providers for greater impact
- Higher Ed Partners: Business Development executive focusing on growing partnership and revenue growth with universities in the greater African continent’
- IWF Leadership Foundation during its transition to a consolidated organization within the International Women’s Forum
Totsie is not only recognized for her professional achievements but also for her contribution to the historical narrative of women in South Africa’s armed struggle working in various operations including the successful smuggling of anti-apartheid leaders and activist into the country.
She has served on a range of boards with her greater contribution being in the Social and Ethics Committees both at Alexandra Forbes and University of Johannesburg. Her other Board experience includes Rural Housing Loan Fund, Memela Pratt & Associates as Chairman and Shareholder, Cadiz and Higher Ed Partners.
Totsie holds a Master’s degree in public administration from the University of Zimbabwe and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from the University of Swaziland. She has also participated in various executive training programmes at prestigious institutions like Wits and Havard Business School and Cambridge University.
Totsie Believes in the transformational power of education which has shaped her commitment and passion for mentoring and coaching which she has done over 20 years supporting International women’s programmes.
