Funeka Montjane is the Chief Executive Officer for Personal and Private Banking at Standard Bank
Group. Personal and Private Banking is a segment of the bank that offers financial services and life
journey solutions to individual customers across all levels of the social pyramid. Before assuming her
current role, Funeka held various senior positions within Standard Bank.

Funeka obtained her BCom (Accounting) and BCom (Accounting)(Honours) degrees from Wits
University. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Master of Commerce degree from the
University of Johannesburg.

Prior to her tenure at Standard Bank, Funeka worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), where she
became a partner in 2005. She currently serves in the Board of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC Nigeria as a
Non-Executive Director and has earned numerous accolades:
In 2015, she was selected as a member of the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders class; In
2016, she was awarded the Businesswoman of the Year in the Corporate Category by the
Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWASA); She was honoured by the University of
Johannesburg with the Dignitas Award in 2020 for her contribution to women empowerment and
community upliftment; and is the 2024 recipient of the prestigious AWCA Woman of Substance
Award, as well as the SAICA Chairman’s Business Trailblazer Award, recognised for driving exceptional
business growth.
